Mikael Forssell has revealed Steve Bruce persuaded him to change his mind to join Birmingham City rather than Everton.

After reiterating that reports of a failed medical at Goodison Park were untrue, the Finland international was clearly delighted to secure a permanent switch from Chelsea.

When asked how big an influence Bruce was on the decision to sign for the Midlanders, the Finland striker admitted it was a "massive factor".

"I spoke to Steve and he really made me change my mind and come here," he told Sky Sports News.

"I know the fans are great here, the set-up and everything is fantastic so I'm very pleased."

Forssell has no doubts his troublesome knee will stand up to the rigours of a full season at Premiership level.

"There was a lot of interest from loads of clubs," he revealed. "It was very good for my situation but I decided to come here.

"I know the place and see Birmingham having a very bright future and I want to be a part of it.

"I was hoping to have a great season but it was cut short. I'm back fit again and ready to go next season.

"I've been fit now for the last two or three months and it's feeling good.

"I'm very pleased. I had the medical today and everything went well.

"Everybody knows I'm fit so I just want to forget about the knee and show everybody I can score goals."

So positive. It's going to be a great season 2005/2006

He will be the same player. We must give him time though. Don't expect a hatrick on his first game..............................2nd maybe  Remember he had the type of op on his other knee a few years back. He is young enough for time to heal it pretty quick. I think he will not play full games at the beginning of the season, this is why I think that SB still wants The Rifle.

The Force probably touched his nose because of some scam with Everton :ph43r:

no it's a body language thing. i was on a course about interview techniquics and part of it was body language that people give off.

it was quite good especialy the bit about telling if a woman is up for some fun if you know what i mean. ;)

I think there is a risk there, but at £3m it is a risk worth taking.
I am absoloutely chuffed that he is here.
If we sign a midfielder of the same standard i will be delighted..

I couldnt believe it when i heard Nick Clitheroe on Midlands Today say that "it may not have been ste sensational signig Birmingham had promised"!!
What an idiot. Every right thinking Blues fan is buzzing at the news that he has signed, and the fact that we beat off plenty of competition for his signature is pretty impressive as well.

Have to agree, at £3M if he does stay fit, a 20+ goal a season striker thats only 24 years old, its an absolute bargain.

A definate bargain. He seems to really love The Blues. When I heard his interview earlier on and him saying that Birmingham are a club that is going places and he wants to be a part of it, I could feel the aul hairs stand up and say 'Birmingham, Feck Yeah'.

This is the club that is heading in the right direction and this is the club that will be leap frogging the likes of Liverpools and Evertons in the coming years. Anybody who says otherwise, WHY THE FECK NOT? You could go on about history til it makes your ears bleed. This is here and now. This is the best run club in England. We all know what it feels like when the Blues run out onto that pitch and gives their all for the club. I live in Ireland and pay through the bollix to get over but I try my best. Over here everybody is a united, arsenal, liverpool or Celtic head but when I bring any of these to St. Andrews, it blows their heads off.

Keep Right On!!!!!!!!!! <_<

I was thinking the same earlier.

Chelsea and Manu ( well did ) have more money than us, but we are definately the best run club in the premiership.

Only us, Man U and the baggies made a profit last season, thats an achievement after the signings we made i think.

I am over the moon we signed the Forse although I am worried about his knee, I think it is a gamble we are right in taking.

I said all along that a loan deal would the best bet given the circumstances but I must admit I am chuffed to bits that he has signed on. Pandiani should also be signed imo. You never know.

Problem with a loan deal is that would prove his fitness 1 way or the other. If he scored a lot of goals again it would mean a much higher price and other big cllubs becoming interested. At £3M for a permanent transfer its a gamble well worth taking.

I cant wipe the smile off my face this morning, I cant wait to see what other transfers we pull out of the hat.

Yeah you are probably right, we would have been in a catch 22 situation again. Brucie and the board are obviously much more knowledgable about the situation than me and therefore I trust their judgement. I hope they sign Pandiani though because I think he could turn out to be a very big signing for da blues.

KRO.
